ABOUT CATHY SCOTT


I studied at Camosun College and received my Diploma in Certified Dental Assisting in 1980.  I was hired to be Reception/CDA at a new dental office in Sidney B.C. with a Dentist that I had been a practicum student with in the spring of CDA program.  Working some clinical but mostly Reception, I developed a keen interest in the business side of Dentistry. 


Moving onto to an office in the Comox Valley, I joined a peak performance dental team whereby the Dentist and team were coached and mentored by Dr Bill Blatchford of Blatchford Dental Practice Management and Coaching. This 12 year immersion in team participation in the business management side of Dentistry lit my passion for smooth running practices. My positions from there were Office Manager, Treatment Coordinator onto Practice Manager, then Regional Manager for a large Dental Service Organization in Vancouver. 


Adding courses in Basic Accounting, Psychology, Effective Communication, Sociology, Economics, Business Law,  Supervisor Leadership and many Dental Practice Management courses. I have also worked as a Sales Associate for a national Brokerage firm that appraises and sells Dental, Veterinary and Optometry Practices. This experience gave me further knowledge of the process of appraising assets, good will and understanding in depth appraisals and Practice Sales.


I have also owned small businesses and keenly understand the commitment and risks that business owners take. Consulting opportunities have come along the way in the form of coaching guidance to the Dentist, training of administrators, set up of office systems, protocols and policies.  I have a passion for helping others achieve smooth running practices.
